Paola and Marta: a successful generational transition!

On January 31, 2024, our Paola, a historic figure in the Administration, Finance and Control department, reaches her well-deserved retirement. Her professionalism and experience gained over the years have made this moment crucial and delicate to manage. 

The Human Resources department identified Marta several months in advance as the ideal candidate to give continuity to Paola's work, thus preparing a coaching project aimed at a complete handover. 

Thanks to the planning of this moment, it was possible to see Paola and Marta get to know each other and refine their understanding during the gradual passage of information and activities from one to the other. 

Despite Marta's young age, the mutual availability gave rise to a harmony that made January 31, 2024 a moment in which to celebrate Paola's career without worries, confident that Marta will be able to carry out her work with the same efficiency and effectiveness.

An important example of foresight in relation to the career stages of people within the group and at the same time a more general account of how the generational transition can bring mutual benefits. 

 

But even more than the story, the words of those directly involved are valid, to whom we are happy to give space. 

Thanks to Paola and Marta for their availability and to both of them goes our good luck for this new phase of their lives and careers.

 

Paola, can you share with us your perspective on the transition and how you've seen Marta grow over the time you've worked together?

"I immediately understood that Marta was the right person for this job. The handover was simple. She is a young girl but with excellent basic preparation.

She started by following my approach to the work and little by little she has already made it her own, customizing it in the best possible way."

  

Marta, how do you feel about your new role and the opportunity to succeed Paola?

"I am very happy and elated for this opportunity that has been given to me. Replacing Paola after all these years of work and experience is an honor for me and I am confident that I will be able to take over the role while maintaining the same efficiency and speed always shown by Paola, while at the same time being able to express what I bring with me from my previous experience. Paola has been a ten-year resource here at Chiaravalli Group and I am very lucky to have been chosen to replace such a valuable figure."

 

Paola, what are the main skills or qualities that you have noticed in Marta that make her suitable for your role?

"In accounting, there is little to invent. She has good learning skills, intuitiveness, method. It's fast and accurate. She has a great desire to do and a good way of relating to others."

 

Marta, what are Paola's skills or experiences that you think will be useful for you as you take on her role?

"Paola has a great deal of experience and knowledge in her role and in these weeks of 'handover' I have worked hard to absorb everything she systematically does and the working method that she has developed and refined over the years.

I think that the confrontation of this period has been precious for both of us: confronting with esteem and respect about more or less complex issues but at the same time taking care to collaborate for the same goal, has been truly stimulating. A harmony arose between me and Paola right from the start, which allowed us to collaborate daily in a peaceful and constructive atmosphere."

 

Paola, can you share with Marta any advice based on your experience that you think will help her in her new position?

"In these three months I think I have been able to pass on to her what I have acquired in all these years and the only advice I can give her is to have a little patience (which, by the way, I have exhausted) because only with time do you gain experience and mastery.

However, she is not alone, she can always count on the help of her colleagues! All that remains for me to do is to wish you a good job full of satisfaction and recognition."

 

Marta, what is the main goal you want to achieve in your new position and how do you intend to work towards achieving it?

"I intend to do my best to be able to fit 100% into the company's dynamics and, secondly, to be able to be - in turn - a point of reference as Paola has been over the years.

Once again I thank the whole Chiaravalli Group team for this opportunity and I hope to have left something beautiful in Paola as she did for me."
